Fundamental Risk

Quantifying the inherent risk from issuers’ military, political, and economic affiliations.

Our MPER China Fundamental Risk data quantifies the intrinsic risk of security issuers based on a set of military, political, and economic metrics. Scores are updated on a quarterly basis and allow clients to screen PRC-based security issuers for risks regarding specific ethical and reputational dimensions. We also supplement this data with a Sanctions Exposure score that tracks whether issuers are directly or indirectly exposed to more than 50 major sanctions regimes. This score overrides the regular Fundamental Risk score until the issuer is removed from the sanctions list.

Our Composite Scores allow users to group individual Chinese security issuers and rank them by their overall risk level as well as risk scores across each of the three military, political and economic dimensions. Clients can also explore each of the more than 40 unique Risk Metrics that our model uses and create rankings of individual issuers in each area. Our breakdown of military, political, and economic risk across Industries allows for sector-specific analysis and benchmarking.
